Serving the people of Alabama by assuring conditions in which they can be healthy.
Providing continuing education to enhance skillswhile promoting high standards, professionalism and cooperation among government, industry and academia in environmentally related areas.
The Association consists of five chapters geographically located to be convenient for members to attend one-day meetings. The chapters are: Northern, East Central, West Central, Southeast, and Southwest. See our Contact Us page for information on chapter contacts.
ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
1 - Chapter meetings
The Association offers educational meetings by each of the five chapters, normally three times per year. The chapter meetings serve a key function for the members by providing an interactive forum to hear presentations from technical experts in the specialized areas of environmental health. Topics addressed at the meetings include all areas of environmental health, such as food safety, onsite sewage and wastewater disposal, rabies control, solid waste, hazardous waste, public and private water supplies, vector control, legal aspects concerning enforcement of laws and regulations, and many personal topics to improve professionalism. These meetings last for one day and may include field trips, discussions, and presentations. See our Upcoming Events page for information on meetings. Members receive association information and updates through the AEHA web site, www.aeha-online.com. The Associations’s newsletter, “The Alabama Environmentalist,” is published on the website. See our Newsletter page for a copy.
3 - Annual educational conference
An annual educational conference is held with interesting speakers from inside and outside of the state to present a centralized program with statewide participation. The association holds its annual business meeting in conjunction with the annual educational conference. At this meeting, business is addressed and awards are presented to recognize members who have made outstanding contributions to the field of environmental health. 4 - Awards
ENVIRONMENTALIST OF THE YEAR - This award goes to a member who has made significant contributions to the field of environmental health working within Alabama.Consideration for this award shall be based on the nominee’s outstanding contribution to the field of environmental health and one or more of the following activities: A. Outstanding contribution to follow environmentalists and/or employers. B. Integrity and devotion to the citizens of Alabama and/or the nation. C. Involvement with civic, community, and/or church activities.
ANSEL C. MULLINS AWARD - This award goes to a member who has been working in the environmental for 5 ye ars or less has distinguished himself or herself in the field of environmental health by demonstrating the following qualities: A. An attitude of public service. B. Initiative in meeting local public needs. C. Conscientious completion of daily duties. D. Self-motivation. E. Cooperation with agencies, business, and citizens of his/her county.

CASH AWARD TO A STUDENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH - This $1,000.00 award is presented to a student deserving of recognition due to contributions or efforts in the field of environmental health while pursuing a degree in environmental health or a closely related field. MEMBERSHIP The association is comprised primarily of the environmental personnel within Alabama state government, but invites the participation and membership of students, associates, private industry, and other interested parties.
ANNUAL DUES: ACTIVE MEMBER - Initial: $20.00 Continuing (if kept current) $15.00 ASSOCIATE MEMBER - $100.00 per year
